Six Travel Tips for Peace of Mind

Have you ever lost your wallet when you were away from home?  Here are some handy tips to make sure you have what you need when your need it.

 √   Copy your Drivers License

Keep a copy of your drivers license hidden in the lining of your suitcase or briefcase.  You may also want a copy in your vehicle or RV.  If you lose your purse or wallet during your trip, you will still have the document you need to prove identity.

√   Copy your Credit Cards (front and back)

Keep a copy of your credit cards front and back.  If your card is stolen the number to report lost cards is on the back of the card itself.  You will also have the account number handy when you call.  Keep the copy hidden in your suitcase or briefcase.

√   Copy your Passport (in color)

If you are traveling internationally, keep a color copy of your passport in your suitcase.  This document will expedite the replacement of your passport, prove your identity and citizenship if something happens to your original.  You may wish to leave a copy, at home, with someone you trust.

√   Keep the credit bureau numbers handy

If you your credit card(s) is lost or stolen, you could be responsible for fraudulent charges.  By calling the following credit bureaus, you can initiate a fraud alert on your accounts. “A fraud alert can make it more difficult for someone to get credit in your name because it tells creditors to follow certain procedures to protect you.” (www.transunion.com)
